Here is another my son's  favorite.My son just love sweetcorn  a lot.So I always try to use corns in my cooking from corn pudding..fritters and rice.Once i saw this recipe in Rasa ,magazines , i make an attempt to  try.My first attempt was success, my son like it.Since thats,its always been cooked oftentimes  in my kitchen.You can have it simply like that or with any of your favorite curries.


Here what You Need,


Basmathi rice- 2 cups
Sweetcorn /corn - 1 cup
Evaporated milk - 1 cup ( i used fresh milk only)
Green chilies- 1,deseeded and chopped finely
Tomato -1chopped 
Onion- 1 sliced
Ginger/garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Biryani powder - 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp

Screwpine leaves/pandan leaves - 1 knotted
Coriander leaves -some for garnish
Cinnamon stick -1
Star anise - 2
Bay leaf-1
Cloves- 3
Ghee- 1 tbsp
Corn/vegetable oil- 1  1/2tbsp
Salt as taste







How I cook,

Wash rice and soak for 40 minutes.Drain and keep aside.
Heat oil and ghee in pan, add cinnamon,cloves,anise and bayleaf.Then add green chilies,chopped onion,ginger,garlic,saute till oil turn on surface.Then add tomato,biriyani  powder and salt.Mix all together and add corn.

Now add  pandan leaves,milk and water.Let it boil then add rice.Once the rice cooked,give a quick stir using fork and garnish with coriander leaves.

    I too make it the same way, except for Pandan leaves.. what are these long leaves called in tamil.. will it affect the dish if left out??

    Dear ,u can omit pandan leaves if u cant get...by d way i didnt knoe wats it call in tamil...it jux gv a good smell..thats all...

    Nasi jagung is one of my fave nasi when I still lived in Indonesia. We usually bought it from the traditional market, then they served it with sambal, urap (mixed vegetables with spicy grated coconut), fried salty fish, tempe and tofu.
